Is this nut allergy a U.S thing?, I always read about it on the internet, see it movies, tv etc… but i have never in my life met anyone with a nut allergy.
A better question than why the airlines serve them is why peanuts/pretzels—which I can effortlessly go weeks or months without consuming, and not even think about—suddenly become the most desirable, delicious food in the universe just because they’re being doled out in tiny bags in the middle of a boring-ass flight.
I know people who say that they will go into anaphylactic shock if they consume nuts (actually, peanut allergy and tree nut allergy are two different allergies), but apparently there’s some dispute as to the actual prevalence of the allergy. I guess the main point is that for some small number of people it’s potentially catastrophic, so a school in particular might want to be overly cautious.
As to why it isn’t talked about in other countries – maybe it’s just rolled into other kinds of illnesses and not specifically diagnosed?
I know when my wife came to the United States, she discovered that a lot of the respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses that she had thought were caused by infection in India turned out to be easily treatable as allergies.
What airlines are you flying? I’ve never seen cheesy buiscuits. It’s always peanuts or pretzels (or cookies if I’m on Delta).
Nope, first case I ever heard about was in England
Besides, if you’re genuinely worried about allergies, you wouldn’t be able to serve anything, since there’s hardly any food that nobody’s allergic to. And wheat allergies are more common than peanut allergies, anyway.
I can’t figure out whether “cheesy biscuits” are cheese-flavored biscuits or cheese-topped biscuits or biscuits with the consistency of cheese.
I’m betting they’re something like goldfish crackers or Cheez-Its.
I don’t think I have ever seen peanuts served on an airline. It’s usually some fake Gardetto snake mix or the cinnamon bagel bites which are both pretty good. I usually only fly on Alaska and Southwest.
It is just something to shut us up. I think the snack choice is arbitrary and not much though is put into it.
I find the whole snack/beverage cart procession distracting and rather annoying.
Because it would be discrimitory if they didn’t server everyone (even those people who recline their seats onto your lap).
That’s why I fly first class, fuck 'em.
Has some bite to it I believe!
