Why Do I Taste Good to My Cat?

Another vote for an improperly weaned kitten. My friends got a kit right before taking a vacation, and I house sat. That little kitten would lick me like there was no tomorrow. I’m used to things being the other way.

Yeah, my cat Cricket licks everything. She’ll lick me, including face, arms, anything she can get her mouth around. She also licks my hair, the other cat, blankets, the walls, even chair legs sometimes…

I think it may be improper weaning. She also seems to lick me when she wants my attention because she knows I’ll lay my hand on her back or head to make her stop and she seems to like having someone’s hand resting on her back.

My other cat used to suckle my roommate’s cat when we were all still living together. Now he grooms Cricket and licks my web hair when he gets the opportunity.

Do you have a mole or other weird spot on your nose? Only asking because once in a while you hear those strange “my cat saved my life” stories, and I wouldn’t be too shocked to find out kitty found a melanoma. I wouldn’t freak out about it if there’s nothing to see, of course. Improper weaning is a much more likely explanation. But it did occur to me, so there you have it.

Nope, nothing.

Then you have a crazy cat, which is much more common! :stuck_out_tongue:

I know that mmy nose seems to sweat a lot more than other parts of my face, and noses also tends to produce mucous, both of which probably taste good to your cat. I’m not sure any further explanation is necessary.

Well, my nose doesn’t sweat a lot, though it can be slightly oilier than the rest of my face at times. I don’t think that she’s going for mucous, because she only licks the tip of my nose, so unless I’ve got prehensile boogers, there’s not much chance of them getting up there.
