Read or write stories. Or have stories read to me. I loved the hell out of story time and was terrified every year that the next teacher couldn’t read as well as the last.
My now 4 year old daughter, got dinged (!) on her pre-school progress report because she wasn’t into coloring. She knew all her colors, shapes, some letters and numbers, and enjoyed making stuff or trying to write, and was a delight in the classroom. But the teacher was concerned because she would only make a token effort to color.
Now, 6 months and a different school later, she’s a coloring fiend - I don’t know why I bothered to buy a new couch.
I’d have to go with, it’s more fun than studying, and there’s no pressure to get the right answer.
On the flip side, I also enjoyed math, where I was comforted by the fact that there was a right answer and I could find it and be right.
