Why do we all love to rock?

Ok, so granted there are a few, strange cases of motion sickness, but other then them, everyone rocks. we’re rocked as babies to put us to sleep, we’re obsessed with swings as children, and when we become old (hopefully content) nasty old farts we get a hold of the latest modle rocking chair and spend our last few years yelling insults at our no good son in laws from it.

Why? does it have something to do with the feeling of motion when we were in the Womb? Or are we all just so crazy about feeling like we’re going some place but not really moving?

I dunno…

I suppose it could have something to do with the motion we experianced in the womb, but I think it’s more likely that we simply find smooth, repetative motions that require little or no exspense of energy to be soothing.
