Why does Bush need to insist he is the "decision-maker"?

Goo-goo-ga-joob!

He’s trying to revive a concept of himself as The Leader and underline the flimsy notion that, as the Commander in Chief, his authority on things military is complete unto itself.

See, he gets to make decisions because he’s the decider (in chief). And he’s the decider because he makes the decisions. Just like daddy!

I like the analogy of the fast food night manager, but there seems to be something of the alpha male in more of a caveman type of way. Like a lazy parent answering their child’s question of “why” with “because I said so”, and “If you don’t like it, let’s see your plan” sounds like “why don’t you move out and take care of yourself while you still know everything” and “when you’re 18 you can go out there and do whatever you want, but as long as you live in my house and you’ll follow my rules”.
