Why does Eric Bana keep getting work in Hollywood?

I never saw the Eric Bana show, but on FF (or was it FF) I thought he was very funny.

One sketch that stands out is a piss-take of a four-wheel-drive ad - you know when 4WDs (SUVs) started becoming popular in the city. He plays this yuppie wanker with a super smug look on his face, just like the bloke driving the 4WD in the ad. The camera pulls back and he is riding a donkey - still looking completely full of himself.

As a friend of a friend said, “His pecs go on for days!”

I have had it confirmed that he was in fact on FF. Er, Full Frontal, that is.

His Ray Martin impersonation was so good!

I would say from this that johnnyboy isn’t really interested in finding out the answer to his question. His friend has obviously seen something all the critics and industry professionals missed.

I always have trouble reconciling the ‘old’ Eric Bana and his Australian television work with the ‘new’ Eric Hollywood Bana who is considered a dreamboat. He’s always looked kind of goofy to me. (But then I don’t think Russell Crowe has all that much going on either).

Bana’s work in “Chopper” however, really was excellent.

I was surprised at the thread title myself given his outstanding Oscar-worthy performance in “Chopper.” I don’t see how you could get any measure of his acting chops based on “Black Hawk Down;” his role was so minimal. Didn’t see Hulk.
