Why does it feel like more people are "out and about" these days? Especially during the week?

Even though it depends on where we live & work, I live and work around suburban areas (the biggest city around my area isn’t that far of a drive as well)

However, I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed, but there seems to be “more people out driving, shopping, traveling, etc” than usual, especially during Monday thru Friday, since people usually have more availability during the weekends.

Furthermore, Covid also changed the job market for some people:

Working from home, odd hours/days (when compared to Monday thru Friday 9 to 5) working during the weekend, etc

For example, if anyone does their shopping during the week (to avoid weekend crowds):

Have you noticed more people shopping during the week when compared to weekends?

On an extra note, during the school year, summer and winter break can also be another reason as well.

I’m just curious, since I usually work from 6 am to around 2 pm and my schedule varies from week to week…

Here in the greater Little Rock area, you’ll find the supermarkets are busier on the weekend than they are during the week. At least during the day.

Summer weather, people working from home having the option to go out shopping.

FWIW, as far as vehicular traffic around me, it seems Saturdays ( and Sundays midday on ) are busier throughout the day, whereas on weekdays traffic is busy on the morning/evening rushes. In turn, I’m finding it most convenient to be out and about mid-late mornings or early afternoons on weekdays than any part of the day on Saturday. ( or Sundays, midday on )

Yes, but it’s been true around here since 2020, and I do think that the greater prevalence of WFH now is the primary reason why.
