I tried to get in and the first couple of times(checked username and password),it said that the administrator had disabled my account and I couldn’t come in.So I went back,reloaded the page and I was in fine.But that’s the second time it’s done it now…What’s happening?

As I understand it, banning is handled by IP among other things. And because some internet users get dynamically assigned IPs by the ISP instead of having one IP all their own (especially via dial-up), it’s theoretically possible that there’s a banned person in Iceland (you’re in Iceland, right?) who used the same ISP as you’re using, which means that every now and then you would run across whatever blocks were put in place for that other person. Hypothetically, of course, assuming I understand this stuff correctly. That, I cannot guarantee; use this information at your own risk, in a well-ventilated area, keep out of reach of children, do not spray in eyes, light fuse and get away.

I’m not in Iceland, but England. It may be cos I use a public cybercafe and so if the IP of the computer I use has had a problem before, it gets noticed and a warning comes up. I’m just hoping no dopers decide to get themselves banned on the computer I use that day…

This IP has been used by several posters who were ultimately banned for various acts of bad behavior.

I do note that you just signed on as a guest, which means that you have nearly a month to figure out how to work out a PayPal account or something similar instead of having a Doper pay your way. I would recommend you do that.
