Why does my toilet clog?

I just replaced my toilet in my master bath because my old one constantly had a log jam, so I went to Lowes and purchased the best American Standard stool that the knowledgeable sales guy stated that “this model can flush 5 golf balls” I was sold ! Well I went home right away and installed it instantly and noticed it flowed out kinda slow, adjusted the flapper inside the tank, this gave it more water but not much improvement to flush the waste, so I thought maybe the vent was plugged so climbed a ladder with water hose and put garden hose down the vent about 5 ft and turned water on forabout 10 mins, flushing the vent didnt help, does anyone have any ideas? It only plugs when I use it and I don’t use excess toilet paper, my wife says its cuz im a big a#@hole

I was once told by a plumber that my toller at the time chores easy because of "scaly"pipes. He tools me that the drain pipe had build up along the walls and that caused the solid waste to hang up. I honestly can’t recall what he said the fix was, as the house was a rental and I want going to put any money in it. So, more of WAG on my past, but that’s what I was told at one time.

A slow flushing or constantly clogging toilet is almost always a result of a clogged line. And is usually caused by roots but there can be many other causes as well. The prefered solution is to run a plumbing auger through the line. This can be done from the toilet itself or find the clean out and run it from there. You can buy or rent augers from places such as Home Depot or your local plumber can do it for you - check Craig’s list.

You can also use solutions such as salt or copper sulphate, but in my experience these are usually less effective.

We have 3 bathrooms; his, hers, and guests. There was never a blocked toilet until a friend stayed here for a long weekend visit, along with her boyfriend. The first day they were here, friend asked for a plunger. I was aghast and offered to call a plumber to fix the situation. She said no, it was her boyfriend’s problem. Wherever they go he plugs up toilets.

So I gave them a plunger and tried not to think about it.

You need more fiber.

no fiber is the problem, that and a relaxed asshole. it causes structurally sound long turds which don’t break apart and don’t bend around trap in the toilet.

develop some asshole discipline. exercise it. learn to clamp down midturd and break that up into shorter bits.

do other drains exhibit slowness?
