When I view the Boards, Firefox (and Windows as a whole) seems to hesitate for a few seconds before loading the page. The whole computer kind of freezes for a second or two.
After the hesitation Firefox frequently can’t load the page. I get the “Connection was reset” page with the yellow triangle. I’ve noticed this happens only on some web sites, mostly message boards. Other pages load normally without a problem or hesitation.
I’m running Windows XP and Firefox with Ad-Block and No-Script. I believe my add-ons are configured to allow most operations on the SDMB and others, but suspect the problem may lie there anyway.
Your thoughts?
Its a network or load issue with the server. Its not a local application issue.
If that’s true, why does it happen with other web pages? As I said, it’s mostly message boards (I post on three or four) where I see this problem. But it also happens on some other sites that are not message boards.
It’s possible that it is local. I run firefox without any problems, but sometimes it gets smacked with mal- or ad-ware. A lot less than Explorer does, but it does happen. Have you checked for that?
I see this on forums all the time. Usually because they cant handle the load, especially when people are doing searches.
If you honestly think its FF, then switch to IE8 for a few days and see if it helps.
