Why does the Star Wars theme make me happy?

I also vote for Yub Yub

Oh, and for those who love the 20th Century Fox Fanfare (as all right-thinking people do), one of my favorite moments of Moulin Rouge is the tidbit right at the beginning in which the little silhouette of a conductor extravagantly conducts the Fanfare…

…and then I realized Philosophocles beat me to the punch.

Why does the Star Wars theme make me happy?

It’s a soaring piece written and orchestrated by a master composer to lift your spirits. The opening jump up is a sure-fire heart-lifter–think of “Over the Rainbow”–and, well, it works!

The best part about both Episode I and Send in the Clones was the theme music.

>and I had to wonder how many of the people who worked on Saddam’s statue last week had seen RoTJ…)<

Yes, and somehow I can’t help wishing we had liberated grateful Ewoks instead.

Great Moment: Empire Strikes Back, Han is being lowered into the carbon freeze chamber.

Leia: I love you!

His relply as written in the script was “Remember that, cause I’ll be back,” but Ford suggested “I know,” instead, and it worked perfectly.

And who can forget Solo’s face being obscured by the steam and we dissolve and fade into Vader’s face. And now a new question…
Vader does not let Fett shoot the wookie…some say he was protecting 3P0? I don’t know about that… I think he would protect Artoo more since he did close off the section.
And seeing the Fall of the Saddam Stature did remind me of Palpatine…and Special Edition…They even made the reference on theforce.net

MaxTheVool– No. You can’t be! That’s impossible!

I was told that he replied thus because they had reshot the scene so many times (what with Fisher’s drug problems) and Ford was frustrated, finally coming up with a surprisingly in character, flippant “I know.”

Most romantic moment in history, with the kiss in the Falcon a close second. (“My hands are dirty.”)

Oh, and Yub nub!

Sigh I nearly swoon every time I watch that- and that is a great many times. I’ve been known to fast forward through the movie just to get to that part. Also, the part where she lands in his lap…

Merla

And then Threepio comes in and interupts-damn, I’ll bet Han was about to make him part of the hyperdrive, at that point.

I like how they repeated that in ROTJ, when Han and Leia are facing a bunch of stormies, and Leia shows Han that she’s hiding a blaster. This time Han says, “I love you,” and Leia says, “I know.”

Now, whenever I hear, “I love you”, on tv, in a book, someone says it-my brain automatically responds with, “I know.”

And even though the prequels aren’t as good as the originals trilogy, and even though their relationship is really twisted, I just know I’m going to cry buckets during Episode III over Anakin and Padme.

OK…
I think Empire Solo was the most interesting…when he was still a scoundrel and rogue…jedi solo,…he mellowed…i guess 2 years in hibernation does that. you get to relfect on ur life like Han did according to the jedi novelization.

Yep. No line smoother than “I’m nice men.”

A master composer who’s almost a master plagiarizer. Listen to Puccini’s Manon Lescaut: you’ll wonder why Puccini’s estate hasn’t sued Williams. Not a direct ripoff, but pretty close.

RE: Bill Murray’s “Nothing but Star Wars” bit (thanks for the details Dewey)–did Bill change the melody? When it plays in my head he starts an octave high. Maybe it’s confused with “Feelings” in my head…or in his.

Search your feelings… you know it to be true

No…NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo[sub]ooooooo[/sub] ::falls::

And of course the classic lines:

“Captain, being held by you isn’t quite enough to get me excited.”

“Sorry, sweetheart, we don’t have time for anything else!”

Love it.

And I love the whole carbon freezing scene too.

Rats… if we’d joined together, we could have destroyed Cecil Adams, and ruled the SDMB as… er… administrator and moderator.

Count me amoung those who think of Star Wars every time they hear the 20th Century Fox theme.

I think it was AOTC–20th Century Fox, Lucasfilm, A Long Time ago… up until just before the opening crawl. I said to my group “so far, this movie is perfect”

Captain, being held by you isn’t quite enough to get me excited.
