I have a 2008 VW Jetta with 35000 miles. Almost every morning, when I start the car, the temperature warning light comes on. If I turn off the car and restart it, the warning doesn’t come on. The temperature gauge sits right in the middle after a few minutes of driving and the coolant level seems to be normal. A problem with the temperature warning light?
Possibly the coolant level sensor is faulty? The gauge would still work but that could trigger the warning light.
It’s a VW, their electronics are shit.
Agree with bad sensor diagnosis. However, wouldn’t hurt to check coolant level.
I work in a VW shop. We get this fairly often, and it’s always in the morning that the customer says it happens. Yep, it’s the coolant level sensor. You gotta replace the whole reservoir. It’s an hour labor and think the part is 40 or 50 but not positive.
