A big part of the problem is that there’s a few posters who seem to have a habit of mod baiting. Doesn’t matter what the issue is, these posters are going to bitch about whatever the mod did.
Frankly, I think that we should just ignore these posters, and not respond to them, because they aren’t out for any sort of fairness, they are only interested in trying to provoke the staff, and sometimes other posters as well.
That’s just because the mods suck. In this threadMarley takes it upon himself to change the thread title without the OP’s permission. No request, just changed the title. Why? And TubaDiva just arbitrarily locks this thread, even though it was a simple question about a member’s username.
That thread was closed because it was 9 years old – a “zombie” thread. You might not like the rule about zombies here, but Tuba was just implementing that rule.
I believe the thread title as originally posted had the wrong Roman Numeral in it and thus was not indicative of what show the thread was really about. I am willing to bet the OP wouldn’t mind a correction like that.
Ha! Really, what I was making fun of, and was unfortunately proven right, is that the SDMB denizens post kneejerk reactions. It doesn’t even matter what the subject is. There is no sense of humor or perspective on either side. One camp bitches incessantly and is opposed by a camp that defends regardless of the charge.
Complaints do need to be open, but it was better when it was in the pit where neutral posters actually bothered to chime in. Things got solved that way. What we have now is a constant, and I mean it never seems to stop, battle between insurgents and sycophants.
I’d love to see a definition of “mod baiting” that can be differentiated from “asking questions of mods when they’ve stepped on their own dicks, pissed down their own legs, and contradicted themselves three times per sentence.”
Lynn talked about posters “baiting” the mods. So I threw out a piece of bait in the form of a complaint that had utterly no merit. NONE! I thought the British were supposed to understand dry humor.
