Question’s in the title really, I was trying to type pheno into Word and it was auto-corrected to phenol.
I have never heard the word phenol before so why is it on Word’s auto-correct list?

I now have to ask what “pheno” is. Abbreviation for “phenotype”?
Pheno is just a prefix. Thus, when found alone, it’s likely to be an error. Phenol, AKA hydroxybenzene or carbolic acid, is the shortest word that the dictionary can find which includes the letters of the prefix.
