Why doesn't Krazy Glue come in toothpaste sized tubes?

Why do they only sell those itty-bitty rinky-dink tubes that always get misplaced, clogged anyway?

Besides, I could have done more collateral damage to my college roommate’s stuff if I had a bigger tube. I could have tried to see if my always-envisioned but never-executed “The-Krazy-Glue-His-Palm-To-The-Wall-While-He’s-Sleeping-And-Position-The-Phone-Just-Out-Of-Easy-Reach Plan” would have worked.

Huge volumes of cyanoacrilate glue are a disaster waiting to happen. You can get it in larger bottles but as you seem to only want it for nefarious purposes I’m not sure I want to help you find it.

Three reasons come straight to my mind:

  1. You’re only supposed to use the stuff in drops, so no one needs to be able to douse anything in super glue. In fact, the stuff is considerably weaker if you use too much.
  2. The tube gets clogged anyway, so no one could ever use a larger tube before it rendered itself useless. Heck, I’ve rarely made it to the bottom of one of the tiny tubes.
  3. Hi, Opal.

By the way, Padeye is right. It does come in larger containers, though they are bottles, not tubes.

Padeye: “Nefarious” is, like, way harsh. Let’s put a happy face on it and say ‘mischievious’; or at worse, call my actions, ‘answering the call to administer karmic retribution to a raging asshole who’s been begging for it for six years’… and leave it at that, hmm?

Saltire: Okay. They come in bottles. If Padeye’s not going to help, what’s the skinny on where to get `em? Lowe’s? Office Depot?

So near-sighted people don’t glue thier mouthes shut.

What? You wanna build a bridge or something?

Most of the stuff that I’ve possessed has been purchased for a particular purpose and gets used about 2 or 3 more times in the next two years before the remaining 90%+ of it in the little tube turns into a rock.

You (usually) only need a little bit at a time.

Most consumers lives demand it on rare occasions.

It gets hard when exposed to air.

I suspect having a large container available would result in ~99% of it going to waste as opposed to ~90% when it’s packaged in the little tubes.

My younger sister, refusing to accept that “Biore Pore Strips” were the only way (other than squeezing) to remove blackheads and such from her face, used to use superglue and strips of glossy cardboard to remove them.

I don’t know where she got this idea. But it works. Its painful, but it works.

No, this isn’t a part of my daily beauty habits. I only tried it once.

She’s now on acutane. I hope she decides to end the superglue/cardboard practice, lest there be less than desirable intereactions with acutane and superglue.

Askia: go to your local hobby store and ask for their biggest bottle of “Zap”, or some other cyanoacrylate glue (commonly referred to as “CA”) (the off-brands are generally significantly cheaper). They’re all the same stuff as Krazy Glue, except that Krazy Glue is thicker than most hobby stuff. Anyway, it comes in bigger bottles.

Ah, memories of fingertips so crusty with the stuff they crack and bleed. Mmmmm.

Oh, and if you’re gluing something you want to set extra super duper fast, there’s a spray you can get called “Zip Kicker”. The way it works is that you glue two things together with the CA, then you hit it with a shot of Zip Kicker, and it bonds instantly. Neat stuff.

That said, you don’t want to go doing nasty things to anyone’s person with this stuff. The potential for injury is huge. If you don’t have much experience with it, I recommend a little careful experimentation before going overboard.

Oh yeah, almost forgot: the company that makes Zap makes a thicker variant called Zap-A-Gap (useful for filling larger gaps), if you want it to be closer to Krazy Glue consistency.
