Why doesn't Mickey Rooney die?

Actually it’s Andy Rooney who makes me wonder.

Oh jesus its early. I was assuming you could tell I was being a touch facetious. But we’ve been through this before with your glee at the death of the president of the Mormon Church. What is it with you wanting to mandate who lives or dies. If he’s alive and kicking (and not kicking you) who gives a crap?

Otto, are you a … heightist? :frowning:

First of all, if Spongebob were four feet tall, I’d like you to show me the sea pineapple that could hold him. PROVIDE IT, OR TAKE IT BACK.

Secondly, I was joking

Third and lastly: if a sponge were filled with sugar, imagine the sticky briny mess it would create upon soaking up sea water. Oh god.

Why IS that, anyway?

It makes me uncomfortable that almost EVERY thread I participate in tries to woo me into Opiate detox in the google ads.

His eyebrows are made of kryptonite.

I stand by my statement. Especially after that night at the Goofy Goober when he didn’t get the promotion that time. I am sure he was filled with sugar that night! Plus, I’ve never actually seen a sea pineapple so I can’t say for sure how large it is.

The title of this thread made me laugh. Out loud, even.

Really? I thought they were two horny caterpillars.

I thought they were electrified Brillo Pads, that would force those ensared to tell the truth.

Why doesn’t Mickey Rooney die? Chuck Norris told Death that if Death comes for Mickey Rooney, Chuck Norris is coming for Death.

Or… I LIKE HIS MOVIES.

I dunno, I got nothing.

See, I love Judy Garland. I am an unabashed full-on Judy Garland queen. But I have never seen any of those backyard musicals because I find Mickey Rooney so repulsive that not even the prospect of Judy goodness can induce me to watch.

To slightly hijack my own thread, if you’re a Garland fan as well as being a Rooney fan, TCM is showing Garland movies today, including “Thoroughbreds Don’t Cry” and “Everybody Sing,” along with a 1971 BBC documentary on her life, the short subject “Every Sunday” with Deanna Durbin and the rarely-seen short “La Fiesta de Santa Barbara” in which she appears with her sisters as the Gumm Sisters.

Wow. Judy Garland wasn’t exactly sunshine and rainbows either, you know. I mean, talk about opiate detox.

I did not “express glee” at the death of the Mormon guy. I said that his death inspired no sympathy in me. Worlds of difference.

And, come on, who doesn’t sometimes want to mandate who lives or dies at least every once in a while?

They had meth way back then? I’d have thought the drugs of choice back in Old Hollywood were more along the lines of laudanum or unrefined coca leaf.

I find it takes a lot of time away from my napping, so I can’t be bothered. It’s not deep seated compassion, it’s laziness really.

One of the few things that’s made me LOL recently is a comedian’s description of a hypothetical debate between an Elvis Presley fan and a Judy queen:

Man. I sort of want to cross stitch that somewhere. I might use it the next time my husband asks me if I’m taking ANOTHER vicodin.

He has just done a panto (Very camp festive theatre) In my small Northern UK city, Sunderland! Looked rather spry!
