Why doesn't the Libertarian party do any better?

I have a libertarian friend who believes:

  1. Patents should be granted in perpetuity since it is the government’s duty to protect property
  2. People should not be arrested for drunk driving unless they have committed some other traffic offense because there is no other crime where you are charged with just being potentially dangerous.

I choose not to argue.

This just proves that all politics are, indeed, local. Israelis already have full medical coverage and are quite happy with it; Shinui is considered “right-wing” by stating that it supports private medical care as a supplement to government-subsidized (incidentally, the Israeli health care system is pretty unique - it consists of competing privately-owned HMOs whose premiums are covered by Social Security). As for free education, college students - most of them in their mid-20’s, with part-time jobs and very often paying their own tuition - are among Shinui’s strongest constituencies. Besides, education is considered by most of the Israeli public an investment in the national infrastructure.

Because the Libertarian party believes in open unlimited immigration, and open borders.

I can live with all of their other proposals, even the ones I disagree with, except that none of their ideas will do any good if they let anyone in here, and if they let in too many other people, esp if they let in people who disagree with libertarian principles. If they let in 100 million immigrants who are going to vote against the libertarian party candidates, then they wont stay in power even if they got it.
