Because red is a stupid color no matter what you wearing?
Nobody is pointing out the obvious, red jeans in certain areas could get you killed.
Wait, you wore that to school?
Bull pastures?
I’m wearing a black t-shirt right now, and I feel TOTALLY gay!
When I first came out, back in the '60s, a lot of gay guys wore skin-tight white Levis. I don’t think straight guys knew about it; it was more of our signal to each other. And it helped keep me out of 'Nam.
I’d guess it’s because the fashion industry hasn’t deemed them a thing and the jean companys don’t sell or market them.
If Levis, The Gap, and Old Navy started running ads with male celebs and models wearing red jeans and touted them as the “in” thing you’d probably see guys wearing them.
Weird. I feel like we all live different places or something.
I have red pants. Blue pants. Black. Tan. Purple. About the only thing I avoid is white, because I will spill something on white pants within 30 seconds of pulling out of the driveway. Most of my friends and former co-workers are the same. Except the white pants. Everyone but me manages to wear that.
Daughter (14) also has pants of many colors.
Even if I WANTED to wear red jeans (and I dont), I can’t remember ever seeing red jeans on the shelves at any stores where I’ve shopped fir clothes.
Yes, indeed. There was a time when American men could wear red pants (or any other color) without fear of having their masculinity questioned.
Of course, they looked like clowns, and American men have long memories.
Not 10 minutes after I saw this thread earlier today I saw a guy with an attractive woman on his arm who was wearing red jeans.
Because they don’t prefer red pants. I suspect this preference is hardly limited to straight american men though.
Because they’re ugly.
Yeah, and wouldn’t go with many other things I own, either. I don’t even think I’ve ever even seen red jeans for sale. The only time I’ve seen a guy wearing red pants of any kind was casual slacks at Christmastime.
I had a pair of red Toughskins jeans (from Sears), with a matching red shirt (and a similar jeans-and-shirt set, in green). But, that was ~1977.
Red jeans? Huh. If I knew they even existed, I may have bought a pair for x-mas (I have a lot of green shirts).
Otherwise… umm no. Jeans are blue.
i’ve noticed red chinos being a thing in europe over the last 2 or 3 years but red jeans i’ve never seen on a man. in the early 90’s i dyed a pair of jeans red and someone shouted ‘Pet Shop Boy’ at me from their car window - i presume they were calling me gay. any kind of creativity or expression is frowned upon in my little put upon town
I would but then again I am a seriously odd duck.
Most of my good vintage 60s/70s stuff (bell-bottoms, nehru shirts, chains, beads, etc.) was too small for me now so I listed a lot on eBay; most sold to Japan. And for what I consider silly money. What that says I have never quite decided.
For me (female), red jeans bring back memories of grade school rhythm band. About 90% of the kids, including me, were given two sticks to bang together. A few kids – the “cool” kids, mostly those with wealthy or influential parents – got triangles or tambourines.
It sucked, and I’m still pretty damned pissed about it.
Reds my favorite color. I want to like red pants, but I don’t.
That color pants just looks goofy on a dude.
Even this model can’t convincingly pull off the look. You can see in his eyes that he feels uncomfortable.

Really? What was his other arm wearing?
