Regarding Oblivion, you guys are crazy.
I don’t know if you can mod the XBox360 version, but I installed dynamic weather and large vegetation mods on mine. The large vegetation makes the trees much larger, I think the default ones were a bit small. Changes the whole look of the game, much more lush. It also makes plants & herbs disappear when you pick them.
I also installed a mod that keeps low-level monsters and treasure in the game rather than make them quit appearing as you get to higher levels. Basically I want the most realistic fantasy experience I can have.
As far as slow travel, after you’ve been somewhere can’t you open the map and just select that place to return there? I personally don’t like that, I like to actually travel in real time. And of course you can buy a horse, although that only seems about 25% faster than traveling on foot.
Regarding the dungeons, I did notice the same cookie cutter dungeons at first, but now I’m seeing much different ones. Like when you explore the wrecked ship. By the way, the side quest leading up to that was very atmospheric and spooky.
