Just one example: I have stock in CSC. The ticker symbol is CSC but the newspaper lists it as CompSci.
Why don’t they just list the ticker symbols? Anyone reading stock quotes in the paper is going to know the ticker symbols, and those abbreviations they use are sometimes much more obscure than the ticker symbols.
