Why has John McCain turned into such a cranky old man?

Ugh. John McCain really had me going. At one time I thought he was a moderate and a decent man.

I have been proven wrong time and time again and I am left with almost no one in the Republican Party I can point to and say yes, this person is both a moderate and a decent human being.

Chuck Hagel, Dick Lugar, Jon Huntsman (though he really is deeply conservative, he’s pragmatic and reasonable), to name a few. But Lugar lost re-election in the primary against teabagger Mourdock, Huntsman didn’t stand a chance against the loons he stood beside in the Nutjob debates, and you can see what they’re doing to Hagel now.

If moderates in the Republican party don’t act quickly, they’ll be an extinct breed we only read about in history books.

The thing that’s alarming about the letter to Obama is that you know he didn’t just sit there and bang it out himself, he surely dictated it to a secretary who probably did her best to get him to tone down the vitriol. The original version as dictated was quite likely a doozy.

For some reason he got it in his head that he deserved to win in 2008 and Obama did not and he is never going to make peace with the result of that election. If the nation thought half as highly of him as he does himself, he’d be president. When will he stop acting like a high school girl who didn’t get to be head cheerleader? My guess is never.

What has happened to McCain since he lost the election? He seems to have become a very bitter old man. I wonder if he still feels screwed over by the Republican party from the 2000 election. He got to run in 2008 but he had to know that was a losing battle after the economy tanked and the country turned against Bush.

He’s always been quite vain and loved the Sunday morning news shows, but now it seems like he can’t stand to not have the camera in front of him as he rants against just about everything and everyone.

I think he is becoming senile, then I wonder about his health. Today that lump on the side of his face seemed much larger, so I wonder if the cancer has come back. Bitter he may be , he sold his soul for his ambition and still lost.
