Why has there never been a major dark "Dungeon Crawl" type movie?

If this thread was a dungeon-crawl movie, the main protagonist just got eaten.

What a twist!

If we allow anime, there’s quite a few of them based on dungeon crawling: Tower of Druaga and Danmachi for example. Then there’s a whole sub-genre of “people stuck inside a MMORPG world” anime, those tend to have dungeon crawling as well.

And his resurrection-survival chance is near 0%.

He’ll probably just roll a new character.

I haven’t seen the whole movie, but the trailer for Dave Made A Maze might be a twist on this idea.

There’s also that DS9 episode “Move Along Home”, kind-of.

And end up with a pile of dead bards.

That, at least, would be useful for something.

We were building characters for our latest campaign, and our DM said, “I have one request: no bards. There’s going to be a lot of action in this adventure, and you guys should have characters that are capable of… doing stuff.”

What version of D&D was he playing that bards were incapable of doing stuff? Worse, that they were the least capable class at doing stuff?

Damn, the DM is tough!
