Why have concealed weapon?

Yet you’ve provided no evidence of civilians in street clothes open carrying getting disarmed.

A person in uniform, even a private guard, is a figure of authority and is going to be subject to different dynamics.

I support open carry, but even I provided a reason, with cite, why one might opt to not do it (ignorant people who will make a fuss.)

You, on the other hand, have made no valid arguments nor cites against the civilian carrying of open weapons. Show us some cases of somebody in street clothes open carrying getting killed, robbed, attacked, ect., just because they were open carrying.

You keep requesting cites stating where open carrying is a larger risk/problem than carrying concealed. Conversely, where are *your *cites stating it isn’t? Both sides have been completely anecdotal thus far.

I cited open carry.org, a site specific for open carriers. Find me stories about people who were victimized simply because they were open carrying. Go on line and find me stories like it also. You think I didn’t research this? It just isn’t happening.

The Chicken Little “the sky might fall” argument against open carry has no evidence to support it, and in fact is presented in the same manner that those opposed to concealed carry present their argument. What MIGHT happen never does, but it still MIGHT happen and therefore we need to prohibit this. Because it MIGHT happen. Just because it hasn’t happened doesn’t mean it might not happen, because it might happen. Blah blah blah!

If there’s people poaching or hunting, or on foot I usually sneak up on them. If it’s a group partying, I get in my truck and drive down.

Now, I had thought these were Amish kids until I got down there. Otherwise I might not have just driven over. What I said was “You need to make arrangements with the owner before you get here to make sure it’s ok to use the property, otherwise I have to ask you to leave, or call the police.”

Noncronfontational, nonaccusatory, and it doesn’t leave any room for argument.

The made an excuse about not being able to find their regular site and that it had gotten late and that this looked ok, and that it would be a really big deal to move so could they please stay.

I said I was sorry but an exception wasn’t possible.

They left. An hour later, I went down again and cleaned up.
The Amish were more of a problem because they kept recurring. They knew they weren’t allowed and so they would always look to see if we were home, or try to dodge me. I used to drive my car around the property to avoid going in the driveway where they could see me.

Neighboring Amish that owned a puppy mill pulled down one of our fences, built a slab on our property and disposed of filth and dead animal corpses on our property. I had a collection of treestands I’d taken down.

My wife and kid were walking in the field and saw a doe. Somebody shot it right in front of them. My wife was afraid to use the property. I had some serious confrontations with some repeat offenders and our neighbors, and it became the big reason why we sold the farm.

How can you find cites supporting this negative? I can imagine a screaming 80 point headline declaring that “No Open Carriers Were Killed Today” for example.

I don’t really have strong feelings about the issue, but I feel that if you are going to make the statement that open carry increases your chances of being killed by criminals, then a cite or two would be nice…
