Except he’s in a weird category of his own. Asahi, and Budget Player Cadet, and Huey Freeman, and plenty of other lefties have been banned over the years. Der Trihs manages to color within the lines when he colors his hallucinatory nightmares, in a way that no other crazy poster on the left or right has managed to do.
Yeah…let me know if that ever does happen.
Which one’s have been banned and, far more importantly, for what reason were they banned?
In 2019 I was pretty anti-Trump but not full-on Democrat. Not long after, I was turned off of anything Republican. 2020 was when I finally said fuck anything to do with conservatives, I am a liberal now. I was done with them.
I posted this in that time period, when I still thought of myself as being in the center, but maybe leaning conservative:
I was expecting backlash to my post and instead I was supported. Especially in a Pit thread devoted to gun control, where I was saying I didn’t want to give up my gun and said why. People didn’t jump on me.
Turns out, the board isn’t going to attack you for having traditional conservative opinions. They’re going to attack you for being an asshole. As time goes on, and it becomes more clear that being a political conservative means being MAGA, you can’t express what conservatives believe in without being an asshole. It’s like trying to be one of those white supremacists who doesn’t hate people and isn’t a racist, and wants equality. It doesn’t work.
I should add, for the vast majority of my time on the SDMB, I was a conservative, voted Republican a vast majority of the time, etc. And never felt attacked. Almost like it’s not your political stance that’s the issue. Hmm…
From where I’m standing either they embraced Trump because he gave them the power they craved or they were impotent to stop him from “leading” the country in a direction no sane patriot would want. Frankly I don’t care which of the two it is.
That post was in 2019. I’ve noticed that especially with Trump2, debaters are blurring the lines between Republican, conservative and MAGA so that for some that any right-leaning viewpoint gets you labeled a MAGA in all things. Not only here but society in general.
Bring it on. I’m not a Trump supporter and I’m centre-right not Republican. You claim you have some insight into the sources of the news and opinion I read which is ridiculous speculation. FYI, my main news source is the BBC and I don’t engage in social media outside of this board which I just took a long break from (maybe not long enough - everybody feel free to zing that). Then you try to personalise the debate and steer it away from the topic being discussed by discussing your personal misfortunes.
It’s kind of ironic really. You’re claiming I’m engaging in bullshit while most of what you countered with was bullshit. I realise this is The BBQ Pit, but do you expect me to engage with you when your debating style is so toxic?
(Response to St. Cad.)
That’s because anyone that voted to put Trump in power is complicit, no matter what label they wave.
Yes, you’ve been unfailingly polite, provided we don’t view you ignoring the request for evidence for your claims as rudeness.
Caused by the policies you did not say you disagree with.
Funny that.
You failed already. And spare now your denial that your sources are trash, your defense was used before by many others that came with disingenuous arguments, with the exception of the BBC, it usually comes out that many of the so called “conservatives”** post no sources, because when they do, most do note how are asinine those sources are.
.
** (who also deny that there are still conservatives here, it is just that many of the ones that remain are smart enough to know what is happening right now with the Republicans. they realize that it is appalling)
(Response to Wrenching Spanners)
Who did you vote for?
Who did you want, enable, and ask for?
Speaking of appalling:
I have to point here that the ones calculating the deaths caused by the end of USAID in the world also included a possible line about deaths caused if cuts in Medicaid and other medical research were made, numbers of deaths coming will now include Americans, and not just people in Africa or Latin America.
I had been Libertarian for a while. No ones ever ragged me for it.
Now I am a Democrat.
Your sources and people that you follow do tell you to ignore that and many other things
[/quote]
You don’t think this is rude?
You enjoy robust debate? Bullshit.
Your sources and people that you follow do tell you to ignore that and many other things
There’s no question that it was rude, but you’re missing the point.
Being rude is totally acceptable, especially in the Pit. It’s even expected. What isn’t acceptable is making unsubstantiated claims and dodging questions. Nobody’s going to let that slide.
Several people have responded to you, and you’ve chosen just a couple to respond to – the most harsh/mocking ones. Maybe that’s what you come here looking for?
That’s because you’re a small-minded idiot who can’t use nuance. No, I don’t agree with @Bone on much, and I’d still take issue with most stances he actually holds.
Did I flinch when I said that?
Of course it is rude, this is the PIT, and of course it is noted once again that you rudely do want to willfully ignore what the Republicans are doing.
Robust debate did not took place, everything was made by skipping debate with the Democratic party in the Congress.
What you are doing now, instead of providing much sought after specific evidence and cites, is not bullshit.
It is doubling down on the bullshit, because you seem to think that just repeating said bullshit somehow makes it true.
