Why have they stopped making Audio CD-RW's

While it was a bit of a crapshoot, it was not all that hard to find an older CD audio player that worked with CD-RWs. At least, I had a couple.

Does anyone know HOW they put SCMS on CD-RWs? Was there perhaps a permanent copy-bit set in the subcode channels, and it was only considered valid if those had high reflectivity (thus preventing you from making your own on a normal CD-RW)?

Anyways, audio CD-RWs are rare because we don’t use CD players much anymore, and so there’s not much money in them. I’m not even sure if the original agreement is still valid.

DRM on music in general has pretty much been defeated.
