First, she keeps saying, “I hate you,” over and over.
Then she starts saying it more slowly, “Iiiiiiiiii haaaaaaate youuuuuu,” over and over.
THEN she starts SPELLING it to me, “I h-a-t-e y-o-u.”
And really, I was kind of impressed that she spontaneously began spelling words for me. When I ask most of the kids I work with to spell words, they’re hardly elated to do so. I might have let her keep on spelling if we had been doing spelling exercises. But we were doing reading comprehension exercises, so I had to cut her off and bring her back on track.
I get to see her tomorrow AND the day after that! She will probably have forgotten that she “hates” me by then.
