I turned 63 last Friday. I’m certainly glad I didn’t go with my SO up to Mt. Diablo, toke up and get gleefully lost in a maze of trails in a section called “Rock City.” That could have been disastrous.
I’m also glad I didn’t have a few tokes tonight. (Even if I had, I might not have inhaled, for all you know. Maybe I just like the aroma sometimes.)
If I had, I’d probably be pretty sleepy by now. Gee, just thinking about it HAS made me kinda sleepy.
Yep, I’m glad I gave up that devil-weed when I was in my twenties. No telling how it might have twisted my brain. It’s illegal, you say? Then how can anyone smoke it? You can’t just pick and choose which laws to obey…can you?

Having said that, I need to tell you that I no longer preach abstinence to people who smoke. For one thing, they already know what it can do, and for another, who am I to dictate their lifestyle? In my hospital I take care of a couple of quadraplegics (sp?) and smoking is one of the few pleasures they enjoy.
So if you and the hub are enjoying it, then that’s okay by me.

“When I was in the Netherlands, where it’s decriminalized ;)”
Not at all! I live for the day when I can get high with Astrogirl! (of course, in Amsterdam! Where it has been decriminalized. Of course!)

[Anecdotes]Several (I don’t know precisely how many) of the dumbest dopers I’ve ever known of, I never saw. I was on an Amtrak en route from Chicago to Santa Fe. Well, really Lamy, if you want to split hairs. Anyway, we were about an hour out of Chicago when a voice came on the PA: “Attention, the people in the private compartment, and you know who you are. We know what you’re smoking in there, and it’s too late to put it out.” Silence, then, “The state troopers have been alerted, and they’ll be waiting for you when we stop in [unscheduled town].” I got scared just hearing that, and I didn’t even have anything with me. Whispering among other passengers; then the train stopped in [town] and everyone rushed to the left side of the train to peer out the windows. My car was too far back, though, and the stewards or whatever they’re called wouldn’t let anyone through the links.
Another candidate for “dumbest doper” would be Bill Murray. Several years before his tenure on SNL, he was in an airport and jokingly asked the baggage handlers to be careful with the “bomb” in his suitcase. Which turned out to be a kilo. Of course, today, that statement would qualify a person for dumbest anything.[/Anecdotes]

Just for the record, I shall add my vote. You have my support here, and I don’t think the thread should have been closed. I don’t like dope myself, but then I don’t like cigarettes, alchohol or meat either. That’s no reason anyone else shouldn’t enjoy them.
I mean, granted I still think that talking about doing something illegal on a public message board isn’t the greatest idea, but again that’s your call.
Incidentally, anyone else think it’s mildly ironic to close threads about dope on the SDopeMB?

I want to say that I agree with the posters who said that the other post should have stayed open. Especially since it was cleared with four of the mods.
My first thought was that you shouldn’t have been suprised in the least that the thread was closed. There has been a long standing policy which is enforced almost all of the time that posting about illegal activity be it illegal drugs or illegal file sharing is not allowed. I was going to disagree with the OP until I read later that you had cleared it with four Mods.
Rilch, the fact that you had cleared it with multiple Mods is key to your entire argument. That something that should have been in the OP of the thread. It might also have been a good idea to preface the post in the locked thread with that fact. I think it may have saved a bit of heartache here.
