Why is Cecil a turkey?

All right, I give up; I just don’t get it. I love Slug’s illustrations, but there seems to be this fascination with turkeys. Anyone got any incite or history?

Oh, I posted in haste, I will start to dig through the archive to look for examples.

Okay here are some examples I dug up. By no means a complete collection, but it still seems to depict a Cecil character as a turkey wearing a graduation cap.

I don’t know why Slug does it, but Cecil (or somebody) seems to be getting a bit annoyed. From the Slug Signorino FAQ
