I’m getting a constant stream of junk mail, email, and now on-screen messages telling me to switch to their X1 platform. I don’t see any advantage to doing so, therefore I’ve been ignoring them.
What’s in if for me to return my boxes, presumably for disposal, so they have to pay for new X1 boxes for me. Do they think I’ll like it so much I won’t switch to their competition? Order more pay per view (the last PPV event I watched was a North Stars playoff game). Does it use less bandwidth? Do they want to retire their older system and switch exclusively to IP protocal?
For those that switched, is the picture quality any better? I hate all the compression Comcast uses.
The difference with X1 isn’t picture quality so much as software. It’s a lot easier to record multiple shows at the same time and to find on-demand shows.

In other words, they want you locked in so you don’t jump over to Uverse, they want to make ordering pay per vew utterly easy, and it’s easier to run a 100% digital system rather than a hybrid of analog and digital.
