Has anyone here read The Marching Morons by C.M. Kornbluth (1951)? In it, a man suffers a bizarre accident that puts him into a state of suspended animation. When he is awakened in the future, he finds that the population of the planet is composed almost entirely of idiots. The ruling elite are the scientists, who must expend much energy maintaining the population. They would rather further their own pursuits than be caretakers of a bunch of morons. The trouble is that if they do follow their own ambitions, the population will suffer from their own stupidity. The man from the past comes up with the idea of sending people to vacation on Venus. Except that the rockets don’t actually go there; they return to Earth, burning up on re-entry. The scientists have staffs of writers who send “Having a great time on Venus, it’s so great we’re not coming back, wish you were here” letters to the families of those who went before. I won’t spoil the ending for you, in case you want to read the story.

Well that’s one way to fight ignorance, just say everybody is so dumb. Secondly, I think Super you should learn tolerance to the average person out there, I think if you talk to them you will find out that you aren’t as superior as you think you are. Thirdly, if you talk to people you will find that those who you would classify as hopeless can make contributions to you and you will be glad to know them. Intelligence is like beauty, they are both overrated, what counts is the person, and I’m afraid I’m gonna have to reserve judgement of you until I see if this is an isolated incident or an indication of your world view. If it is an accurate reflection of how you see the world then I won’t lose any sleep over anything else you post.
