Why is everyone taking Democratic wins in '26 and '28 for granted?

Who are the pro anti-Semitism Democrats?

It looks god for the Dems as of now, but my big worry is what they’ll do with the victories.

If the next Administration is dominated by their liberal wing, could we see an attempt to bring back affirmative action or even (Gordelpus) busing? If so their victory could be very short-lived.

If you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, you ain’t gonna make it with anyone anyhow!

Sorry - could you clarify?

Where exactly does Mao come into it?

Working in a little Beatles, there.

Not sure if this is a whoosh or not but -

The relevant lyric is at 2:35 into the song.

“Busing” is so 1979. I pushed the conversation further back yet, to 1969 (yes, it’s from “Come Together”).

We could push it back to
1954 so the
brown can walk
vs
board a bus to get they’re fill
of
education.

Do you have a title for this song? I’ve been googling but can’t find it.

Incidentally, if the Brown in the song refers to the plaintiffs in the 1954 Supreme Court decision, then it has the matter upside down. Their daughter was *already* being bused – purely because of her colour - to a black school because her local neighbourhood school was whites-only. The Browns quite rightly objected to this and the justices quite rightly upheld them.

So far so good. A clear-cut victory for individual freedom. However, in later years this was perverted into a *defeat* for it, with children getting bused out of their neighbourhoods, without their parents’ consent, again on account of their colour, to achieve some sort of racial quota or other. Needless to say this ran into massive opposition, and in the end, Supreme Court or no Supreme Court, busing went the way of Prohibition. Once again, individual freedom had won.

On the Bulwark yesterday, (Sarah and Sam Stein, I think) theorized that the Dems might have lost 9-10 seats due to TN & LA& VA swallowing up the blue areas into red ones. That is a big deal, although Sarah thought it might be only 4 house seats that were lost. Yet…yet, those 3 states are not the only ones, and plenty of people are angry, we just have to vote like we never have before.

I think what they’re getting at is that Democrat officials in local politics do stuff like refusing to prosecute crimes below some certain dollar value. Why? Because they’re typically nonviolent crimes and something about not wanting to make someone’s life worse for such a minor crime.

And of course the rest of the Democratic party is silent while the Republicans make a huge deal out of it.

It’s not a good look.
