There seem to be quite a few articles about Raman spectroscopy that use hafnium oxide, or hafnia, as their sample. Why? Is it a particularly remarkable Raman scatterer? As far as I know, hafnia is mildly important as a very high temperature powder-type wire insulation for thermocouples and heaters, and not much of anything else.
