Only because mollusks don’t have eyebrows or vocal cords…
Well, that one you unwittingly made for me, it’s true.
I understand where you’re coming from just fine, Mr “Objectifying women isn’t objectively wrong”
As for the mod? That was a *response *to a straight-up accusation of duplicity, not an attack.
Prove that it is intrinsically wrong. Good luck.
You do understand that there is a fundamental difference between political discourse (an artificial division) in which tempers get occasionally heated and the chronic, casual dehumanization of approximately fifty percent of the world’s population, right?*
I mean, clearly you don’t,** but I still live in hope.
The Dope is not nor has it ever been a safe space. But this thread isn’t about that. And if you want Mr. Dibble to actually debate you on your supposed point about the intrinsic validity of some people not actually being people, take it to GD.
- Transgender people and non-binary people skew the numbers slightly from the usually cited 49% male/51% female division of the human race. Their existence does not negate my point.
** Just as you say you do not use objectifying language, I don’t generally call my political opposites three of your four insults. One I believe is increasingly shown to be accurate. One applies to a subset of the human population as a whole.
Aside from demographic statistics your post is grossly inaccurate. Plus, this whole “hot chick” debacle is a derivative of off board Skald targeting. ~50% of humanity being dehumanized because of “hot chick”?
Grant that the entire issue is subjective. What does that mean for this board?
Well, a few old white men are saying that using “hot chick” is not subjectively wrong.
On the other hand, many more old white men, and not old white men, and not white men, and not men, and the mods (who as we all know are mere ghosts in the machine) are saying that using it is subjectively wrong and that old white men shouldn’t use it and will get mod-noted and perhaps warned if they do.
What lesson do you think the old white men dying on the hill of misogyny will learn from this?
A) Using crude terms that women find offensive is wrong.
B) The world is changing and I had better change along with it.
C) The liberals are taking away my masculine privilege right to insult my perceived inferiors and get away with it.
I’m betting on C) though I’d love to be proved wrong.
No clue. But I doubt that people here will be warned or modded for a thread let’s say in IMHO where they opine on Miss or Mr. Universe. And what’s with stereotypes regarding age, sex, and skin hue? A trifecta of broad brushing!
I’m part of that “we.” And it wasn’t just that she was called a “hot chick”- the added (they moved her so I can’t see her hotness anymore so) “I hate politics.” Is extra gross fun.
“off board targeting”? Looks to me like we, members of this board, are objecting right here, on this board, to behavior on this board.
This is madness.

Unfortunately, like many previous threads, this thread is going over the same old arguments. As much as I would hope that this could come to some sort of resolution, past experience has shown that this topic just tends to keep going forever, accomplishing nothing.
That’s enough for this round. Thread closed.
