Why is it so hard to stop.

In your car, like when someone is making right into a driveway in front of you, or at a stop sign. We crowd that car in front of us at a red light. We’ll go real slow, or squeeze into the other lane, and/or honk at the “offender” in an attempt to avoid a full stop. Me too.
Lately I’ve made it a point to stop if I need to, and it doesn’t hurt a bit. This morning a car was turning into a business driveway and had to wait for a pedestrian, so I stopped and waited for him/her (the driver) to get out of my way. I didn’t honk, or swerve into the other lane, or do the slow-slow to avoid a full stop. But I felt kinda uncomfortable.
It’s a genetic psychological thing, isn’t it? If I stop, someone else’s gonna mate with her, right.
So, why don’t you like to stop.
And why do you watch for the opposing traffic’s yellow?

I wonder if it is from manual transmission days - if you come to a full stop with a manual transmission, it is harder to get in gear and get started again if you are new at it. I have been learning to ride our motorcycle and avoid stopping on it for that reason.

I have no trouble stopping, and I get pissed as all hell when other drivers honk their horns at me, damn them all to hell.

I do watch for the other side’s yellow though (when I can see it), in hopes of being able to get away prior to the assholes honking at me. But if it’s not safe (to make that left turn across traffic: this is the situation I mean in this instance), I stay where I am until I think it’s safe.

Because I like to feel that I am continuing towards my objective, even if it is at a snails pace. If I come to a complete stop, I may never get going again.

Tough question, huh?
I guess comlulsive introspection isn’t as universal as I thought.
Now get outta my way.
