I wasn’t the one talking about the sacrifice. I am amzed to see the USAPATRIOT Act describes by a right winger as a sacrifice. I thought it was only us dangerous liberals who thought removing the rights of others was a sacrifice.
But back to your original, ridiculous, claim… that this is all traceable back to “liberals” opposing the surge in 2007. Pray tell, how on earth can you justify that garbage?
I’m not a conservative. I often argue against folks more liberal than me, which probably has more much to do with the composition of the board than anything else, but I call myself a liberal and have no hesitation with that label.
I also have no problem with jayjay’s comment, since it seems that we have found common ground that both of us find very reasonable (once the troops are out, it isn’t a war anymore). We may disagree on when troops should leave Afghanistan, but hey – nobody’s perfect.
You’re working at the actual limits of his personal memory here…2002 was 8 years ago, at which point Curtis was 5 years old. Just something to keep in mind…
Well, villa, that’s exactly what I was getting at in post 37. Did you think I was just kidding around?
I’ll admit to being disturbed that Curtis sees the same thing I see, but seems to view it as noble that the WHOLE FREAKING REASON FOR DEFENDING AMERICA IS BEING MADE MOOT by these “sacrifices.” But not particularly surprised. After all, he’s only a kid.
Hitler did in fact increase military spending as well. You miss my point. We as a nation were not asked to sacrifice in the immediate term, except to put up with an ineffective & irrelevant new airline boarding protocol. We have not paid for our present efforts. Instead we throw the bill on–well, on you, young’un.
And no, the USA PATRIOT Act is not a sacrifice. It’s simply an attempt at better policing. The country is not “sacrificing” when it’s trying to make itself safer.
I’m talking about taxes, boy. Bush cut taxes. This was stupid.
You don’t live there. If you did, a nation on the brink like Iraq would terrify you. The country is in great difficulty. Because it is not reported upon anymore ,that does not make it fixed. A civil war is still possible after the next election, in about a month. We drove out the educated and they can not maintain the infrastructure we built .
Violence has gone down tremendously-indeed Iraq’s more peaceful than Mexico nowadays! Of course the liberal media doesn’t report on Iraq because it doesn’t have enough killing and disaster in it for sensational reports of “near defeat” or “chaos”-they only report when the occasional terror attack happens-they don’t report on how Iraq is rebuilding.
You’re absolutely right. Why they have only been reporting on our offensive and our attempt to destroy Iraq and its Culture wholesale for the past 8 years. Expect to be there and feel the repercussions into your adulthood, my dear Curtis.
I have a clue for you. Your press, whether liberal or conservative, reports all of the negative on México. So don’t be so sure you know what is happening here.
What liberal media? That is such a trite and stupid thing to say. The conservatives pretend the world is united against them while they take over. You don’t watch any liberal media unless you watch Democracy Now or Grit TV. But I am sure you don’t. You live in a sliver of the spectrum of ideas and thought that are out there. If every body tells you the media is liberal, I guess a kid like you would accept it. That does not make it true.
Than how do you explain the fact of their lack of coverage in reporting Iraq? Or the fact that the major newspapers are dominated by liberal editors (see the editorial in most major national papers-for instance the LA Times along with most other CA papers opposed Prop 8).
