Why is "My Favorite Things" considered X-mas music?

I never understood why wintery songs get halted the day after Christmas when the winter still has a couple of months to go.

When I hear it my first thought is “THIS is a Christmas song”?

Then my second thought is “Welp, at least it’s not the damned Christmas Shoes”

It ties in with presents under the tree.

I think it is because in the US the “Sound of Music” used to (still is?) be broadcast every year around Christmas time by one of the major networks, just because it is such family friendly fare.

Isn’t it Easter when the Sound of Music has been traditionally broadcast?

That’s what I was thinking.

Except it wasn’t a ghost and old man Jenkins would’ve gotten away with it if it weren’t for those pesky kids.

“Bess, You is My Woman Now” is now my favorite Christmas carol.

I would just like to take a moment to say how much I really truly hate that song. I hate the movie, too. But at Christmas time, I can’t even escape this truly dreadful song.

Yes, that and The Ten Commandments.

So, it’s not one of your favorite things, then?

In England ‘The Sound of Music’ is a Christmas Tradition. It’s always on telly this time of year, and so is ‘The Wizard of Oz’.
Well, they always were, I’ve been out of the country for several years now, but they were considered Christmas films. I expect ‘My Favorite Things’ is the song in the film that sounds most Christmassy, what else would you want under the tree but all your favorite things?

I didn’t know that it was, but I’ve been playing Coltrane’s version for the kids. They love it!

On that movie, I usually take a pass, overwhelmed as I am by spring cleaning and such.
