Why is My Phone Dying

My cell standby for the last 16 hours on battery power was 5%. Click on that item and it will go to another screen that tells you your connectivity during that time. If you’re in a dead zone with the phone looking for a cell network signal constantly, that drains your battery, as mentioned above. That’s generally not a phone problem, that’s a carrier problem.

Don’t leave GPS on (sometimes called Location). This can eat battery like crazy if some app is using it.

Thanks I turned Location off.

I am losing about 1% battery per minute. Is this normal?

I live in the middle of no where, my cell reception rarely exceeds 2 bars and this is the best service I can get.

I think the culprit has been identified.

But with my iPhone it didn’t do this, yet same service provider, same reception. There ought to be another reason.

I downloaded juicedefender but uninstalled it because McAfee flagged it immediately.

No it’s not normal.

Put it in Airplane Mode, close all apps and see if the battery still drains. If no, it’s something with network searching and likely a setting you can change. If yes, then you may actually have a bad battery.

The only time I had a big battery drain was a different phone after the KitKat update. I had to do a cache wipe and factory reset and problem solved. You stated upthread that you don’t have extra apps installed aside from banking, but it doesn’t come with McAfee so are you sure you don’t have other weird stuff on there?

You will likely get more focused and helpful tips and tricks if you join an Android forum or at least bookmark one you can search. I use Android Authority and Android Central. Depending on your carrier, their website may also host device-specific forums (I’ve used AT&T and Sprint in the past, with helpful device information). The thing with using the Android OS is it’s got a lot more variation than Apple, so the knowledge base by nature is vast. Google searching for device-specific, and OS specific information is the way to go. For you, the search should start with “lollipop battery drain.” And see what you can find that way.
