I mean, the nitwit “ruler” of this dump was threatening nuclear strikes…and telling his people to get ready for war. Now. nothing. Are wwe to assume that he’s been given a big pile of money?
My best guess is that because of other events… ooohhh wait what’s that? Oooohhh, shiny.
North Korea Arrests American Citizen
Kim is still ratcheting up the tension to get concessions like scaling back the economic sanctions.
Yeah, I was thinking Mr Kim was pretty ticked-off at the Boston bombings. All of a sudden, he lost the limelight. Probably for the better, BTW, as all the attention he was getting was causing him to bluster even more - not that the bombings were good. It would be great if we could just ignore him, if it were not for the nukes, and our friends in the region.
The key word in your post is nitwit. Nobody takes him seriously.
If anybody told you last month or at any time that war was imminent, they were totally misinformed. Or you drew the wrong impression. There are some major problems over there, but nobody’s invading anybody tomorrow.
If nothing else, it shows him that we really don’t give a shit about him and his shithole joke of a nation. We don’t take their threats seriously and ultimately, he ain’t getting a damned thing out of it this time.
You can only cry wolf so many times before even the 24 hour news cycle gets tired and moves on.
Oh, and given South Korea’s increasing interest in potentially building their own nukes, I wonder if that will light a fire under China’s ass. Their idiotic short term policies and refusals to do anything about their crazy neighbor have the potential to ignite a nuclear arms race leading to both South Korea and Japan going nuclear. If they were to consider it, imagine how long before nations like Vietnam decide they have to look into it.
The wargames have ended, so I’m sure that Kim has now declared to his citizens that North Korea has browbeaten the aggressionist imperialists into submission and saved the Republic, and that they’ll recommence shipments of tribute shortly.
Ahem. Just for nostalgia’s sake, you ought to work “running dog lackies” in there somewhere.
It is interesting that just a couple of weeks ago war was imminent with Ira… pardon me, North Korea.
The interesting part is how much of a role is played by the media and how saturation of media space works where origin of news is small, maybe just a single source, then you have perhaps 3 to 5 news publishers and then myriad of news relaying points that reach almost everyone.
Think about it –if it wasn’t for the “news” all over the place that brought the whole population to a boiling point what else was going on? I mean, as far as an individual is concerned if none of the news about NK was available would it make any difference?
No, it wasn’t.
