Why Is Rose Gold So Hard To Find?

I like the look of rose gold (an alloy of gold and copper). It has a nice rich, warm look to it…yet finding jewelry made from it is difficult. The yellow gold (14 KT, 18KT) is much more common, but I don’t like the look of yellow gold as much.
Where can I find bracelets made from rose gold?
Also, I understand that there is a less commmon alloy (gold and iron) that is blue in color-anybody ever see this?

Try looking for “red gold”.

That’s the more commonm name for it.

And yes, it is a very attractive gold alloy. :slight_smile:

Another name (common on the West Coast) is “Black Hills Gold.”

And despite being no more than 10K, I agree that it can be very attractive. Especially when used as an accent on a 14K piece.

i’ve never followed the “shopping channel” type stuff on TV, but when i was doing a similar search for rose gold jewelry, i found a surprising number of items listed at the QVC site online. (qvc.com)

they’ve got rings, bracelets, chains, earrings, even some toe rings. once i can carve down my “wish list” into affordable terms, i plan on actually purchasing some (og help me). and searching by “rose gold” will yield about a dozen pages’ worth of results. (some items come in a choice of regular, rose or white gold. go figure.)

BTW, “Black Hills Gold” normally refers to jewelry that combines all 3 types(colors) in a single piece, but the majority of the metal tends to be the yellow variety. ok, i guess, if you want the combination, but not what i’d be looking for if i wanted strictly rose gold.

even more shocking (to me), when i tagged along with my mom on a shopping trip to a nearby mall, i found plain rose gold snap-bar hoop earrings included in the pile of “special sale” stuff at Hecht’s. at about $30 a pair, i grabbed two sets. Fire Mountain Gems also happens to sell a limited variety of rose gold beads among their precious metals stuff. and they just happen to have a hole diameter large enough to let me thread them onto those hoops. hehhehheh.

my love for rose gold started with an old-style expansion band wristwatch that i got from my MIL (also set with a couple rubies on the case). now i’m trying to build up a set so i can wear all matching metals – watch, earrings, bracelet, necklace, earcuff.

p.s. Fahrney’s currently lists a rose gold fountain pen (as well as matching BP or maybe rollerball) in their latest catalog. :: sigh ::

Can’t find Rose Gold?

Have you looked in the phone book for Boca Raton? {rimshot}
