Personally, I found it to be the first big-budget example of Communist-Fascist propaganda. Yeah, if you unite everybody under one guy, and then everybody is forced to bend to that guy’s will and do his bidding, you’ll have internal peace. There was internal peace in Nazi Germany. There was internal peace in the Roman Empire. There’s internal peace under Kim Jong-Il (to whom I cannot help but suspect this movie was silently dedicated). Dictators don’t generally tolerate much dissent, so you’ll find this holds true of any fascist/monarchic system.

Is that really the kind of Peace and Unity you want?
