I read up at www.urbandictionary.com to see what candy paint was, since they mention it in every song. But they’ve progressed to saying that the candy paint is “dripping” - why?
Does it mean that the car is freshly painted? Something else?

I do believe they mean to say the candy paint is in abundance. So are the gold and platinum “fronts”.
Or maybe they see it that way after sippin on the “sizzurp”.
If “candy paint” = crystal meth, then dripping may mean the post-nasal drip. Pretty vile tasting.
Because they left it out in the rain? Or was that a cake?
Not crystal meth, which has hundreds of “down” votes.
I think it is EVERY song…
It’s so fresh and luxurious that the paint is just “drippin”.
But I have noticed that rap has become a formula music, pick as many as apply.
Candy paint
Hit it from behind
I’ll keep you icy girl / I only hit it from behind, feed you fast food and not keep you icy.

There is the skeleton all you need to do is pick a few topics and rap a few bars around them, come up with a hook and you are done.
Dont’ forget about “poppin the Cris” {Cristal Champagne} or “you can smoke an ounce to this”. Wish I was a rapper sometimes.
Or you have to talk about goin’ to the club with your boyz (or possibly your girlz), or being at a party and drinking Bacardi!
Well… most everything on the radio follows that, but listening to Jurassic 5 might change your view a bit.
The candy paint is dripping because it’s so shiny and new and fresh that you’d think it was still wet, and hence likely to drip off the vehicle and leave stains on the road.
 Ah, yes, because then you could add "seeing how many times they can squeeze “BRINGING IT BACK!!!” into one song while waiting for Chali2na to do his verse.
The problem with John F’s list is that it mistakes cultural reference to repitition. And some are only cultural references to one particular area - sizzurp and candy paint are pretty much confined to Houston.
Fair enough but that’s where my radio is…and the OP is on Swisha House
I’m a huge music fan and for a while listened to rap about 60% of the time because rock was in a slump and rap was on the upswing IMO. Now I listen to rap about 10% of the time and 5% of that is from my CD’s because it’s gone to a “formula” style from what I hear on the radio, TV, etc…
It could be my local radio stations are to blame for this perception but I’ve lost interest in most of what I’m hearing. Maybe I’ve also gotten lazy in finding music because I found Black Rob, and Bumpy Knuckles without ever hearing them get radio play… probably somewhere in between.
John F, I don’t really see the “formula” in lyrical content of some mainstream rap to be something that necessarily hinders enjoyment. I see it more as a genre construct or a cultural meme and the enjoyment comes from what happens around that. Kind of like the way you expect certain things from a horror film (killings, lots of blood, etc.) but putting those things in the film doesn’t necessarily make it formulaic.
HAHAHAHAHHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.
Candy paint is not only confined to Houston. I’m from So. Cal. and they sport candy paint jobs out here on the West Coast. Those paint jobs cost a fortune. I’ve been to a few lowrider car shows in my lifetime and some of those rides are absolutely gorgeous!
