Some people are lucky and have their family and needs met where they currently live.
Some of us aren’t that fortunate.
Everyone’s life is different.
Travel connects me to my extended family and motivates me to stay in the land of the living.
As long as I have a trip planned I have something to look forward too. Exploring history, enjoying the beach, visiting museums. Spending time with cousins, etc.
My current and future obligations are all met.
Travel is my joy in life and my grief therapy combined.
Well, in the case of my kids, they’re thinking “Well, if my sister and her husband are flying to the folks’ house for the 4th, then I am, too! And I bet my girlfriend would love to swing by on her way from work…” (She works in London, but lives in NYC).
Oh, want to see Beck’s head es-plode? One of my kids flew to Europe to see Taylor Swift.
It was so expensive to see “Tay-Tay” in Los Angeles, the kid and her friend did the math… and it was cheaper to fly across the Atlantic and pay fewer euros for the experience.
By the way, she has a long commute, so she bought an electric car (and her work provides free electrons (I think most of them are from solar panels).
Her ‘carbon footprint’ is smaller than most people’s.
The Lil’wrekker had not considered traveling to Europe or other places to see Taylor. I’m not sure why. She’s all about finding bargains on what she wants.
She had a chance to go to New Orleans to see her. And just couldn’t pull the $$ trigger on awful seats and she had just gotten over hip surgery and didn’t think she could do it safely.
I keep telling her Taylor’s young, she is young. Her time will come.
