I asked in CCC but I think this forum would be better for getting an answer. Why are eye guts green? And how can an eye that has been busted open, as this one seemingly has, be repaired?
I didn’t look at the link, mainly because that’s one nasty I don’t want to add to the mental library.
However, it is my understanding that when the globe of the eye is ruptured - meaning, the insides are coming outside - it is almost impossible to repair and the normal procedure is to remove the damaged eye and replace it with a prosthetic i.e. “glass eye”.
I’m cheap. My picture viewing services can be purchased for the price of your attention.
I think the stuff in the picture is crusted-over vitrius humor (the thick jelly inside your eyeball that helps it keep its shape) or some other eye fluid. Normally, this stuff is clear to whitish, but I think the color shifted as it dried, what with it being outside his head. Or, it could be a large glob of dried tears. I’m not the only one with greenish eye-sleep-boogers, right?
This eye is definately not worth repairing, if even possible. Just take it out.
The green probably has more to do with infection than with the “eye guts” themselves. Pus is usually a yellow/green color, and a busted-open eye is definitely a fantastic place for an infection to set in quickly.
Definitely not repairable. Those structures in the front of your eye are not repairable. The lense & cornea can be replaced, but the iris is god’s own for the present; we’ve got nothing. Also, the vitreous humour (the “gelly” in the globe) doesn’t regenerate. As stated, so called “open globe” injuries where the globe itself is busted pretty much mean the loss of the eye.
I also wanted to state that the pictures (there are more. One in Blender, in fact) was supposedly taken very soon after the rapper was discovered.
Another thing that I wanted to ask about this bizarre incident: All accounts have the rapper calm and showing no signs of being in pain. Yeah, he’s buttfuck crazy but does being crazy turn off your nerve endings?
A couple things - I suppose it’s possible to have a superficial eye injury that LOOKS horrible but isn’t as bad as it first appears. But since I’m not looking at the link I can’t say in this case.
Second - “healing” could mean the injured eye socket is healing after removal of a destroyed eye.
Third - yes, being crazy can make you not react to pain. So can shock, alcohol, various drugs, and so forth
The person in question is rumored to have a “substance abuse problem”, which could have an affect on their pain perception/reaction.
That picture wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
I mean, when I read “gouged his eye out”, I thought it was out.
But as someone who’s had retinal tears (retinal breaks, or rips, and subsequent gunk clouding my vision) I am sickened by the very thought of harming my own eyes. Jeebus, my vision’s bad enough as it is without doing further damage to it.
