Why is there no mouse flavored cat food?

Probably if they had to, if they were starving, they would eat cats. I love dogs and cats, but I am ever aware that they are only a few meals away from returning to their red tooth and claw days. Heavily domesticated animals certainly would not eat each other, but in certain circumstances they might be forced to…yulk. Well, not yulk, just survival.

$5 “human tuna” is a canned steak or filet. The cheapo tuna looks more like cat food.

You might note that I wrote “normally”. A starvation situation is not a normal one.

As far as pork-flavored cat food, it doesn’t surprise me that someone somewhere has some on the market. But most brands do not seem to have any. I checked all the different brands at my supermarket and none had any.

I had a friend who refused to feed her cats beef-flavored food because it couldn’t be part of a cat’s “natural diet”. I don’t remember her opinion of tuna-flavored cat food. Or whether she considered salmon a possible part of a cat’s “natural diet”.

I have to ask. Was this bumped by a spammer, did you search for it, or did you start a new thread but Discourse showed this one in it’s “similar threads” history?

Was cross-linked from “cat treats” thread, since it is proper (mouse-containing) cat food and not a treat, and therefore belongs in this thread.

I can imagine circumstances where wild cats would have the opportunity to eat wild salmon, but these seem unlikely to occur often.
