Why is UHTC on lenses obsolete?

I was looking at this Meade ETX105EC telescope on Amazon hereand it said that UHTC, which I guess is used on this scope, is obsolete.

Is that true and if so, why? Or do they just mean that this particular model uses a type of UHTC that is obsolete, not the idea itself.

If you feel like talking a little about UHTCthat might be good but the link seems good too.

Thanks.

OK, I think it means the model is obsolete. Does anyone know what that means in the case of a telescope? the mount, controller, design, etc?

Sorry and thanks again.

Discontinued model. The person putting it up for sale used the wrong word. Just a guess, but that seems likeliest to me.

Scopes themselves (and mounts, etc.) cannot become obsolete, because they are going to work the same way, even decades after they are made. Modern ones may have improvements, but that won’t stop the older ones from being just as usable as when they were new.
