Why is Woody Allen still making movies?

This makes no sense. He WANTS people to speculate that he’s a llar, his mother is a whore, and that Woody Allen is telling the truth about the both of them, when he could prove the opposite through irrefutable scientific evidence that he could supply easily and immediately?

I didn’t say he’s lying. I’m pretty sure I said the exact opposite.

YOU didn’t say Farrow is lying, others have and will. So why would he want to encourage others from speculating about him in print when he could shut them up easily and immediately? That’s what makes no sense about his position on DNA testing, and about yours.

About what? What has he said that “others” would claim is a lie?

That Woody Allen is his biological father,

Maybe I missed the quote to that effect.

Yeah, he’s no Roman Polanski.

As hard as it may be to believe, some people really, honestly, don’t care what other people think about them.

Pretty rare, in my experience, and largely limited to advanced practitioners of ascetic spiritual orders and the like. In the competitive world of journalists, lawyers, and public speakers like Farrow, it’s unheard of.

About twenty years ago, I went to what I guess we’d call a TED Talk these days, featuring Mia Farrow describing her adoption of her kids. Gave me a case of the creeps. “I got So-and-So from X country, and he had this health condition. Then I found Such-and-Such in Y country, and he had that health issue…” She didn’t sound like a mother talking about her kids; she sounded like a connoisseur describing her collection. That’s just an impression and doesn’t prove anything about what kind of mother she is, or whether on not Woody abused her child; but it does make me give him a bit more benefit of the doubt.

Not really a fan of Woody’s, but I did enjoy Midnight In Paris.

How many do you know?

No idea. Hundreds. Maybe a thousand. Why?

Why should he stop? If he still wants to make movies and has support and other who are interested in joining the project, good for him. Not a huge fan, but I like his work OK.

And you know all of them so well that you know what they would do in Ronan’s position?

So this thread started 22 years ago and Woody is still making movies:

The Madrid regional government is hoping to harness the power of film tourism by investing €1.5m (£1.3m) in a new Woody Allen movie that will be shot in and around the Spanish capital and which will be contractually obliged to feature the word “Madrid” in its title.

Regional authorities are confident the 89-year-old film-maker’s next project could do for Madrid what Roman Holiday did for Rome tourism in the early 1950s, and what Sex and the City and Emily in Paris have more recently done to increase visitor numbers to New York and the French capital.

I think Madrid is over-optimistic as to how well this movie will do.

Woody Allen’s most recent film, Coup de Chance, was shot in Paris and is almost entirely in French. It was released in some countries in 2023 and in others (including the U.S.) in 2024. It got reasonably good reviews. Outside of the U.S., most people don’t care about his personal life. he remains a famous director and writer there.

Hmmm…“Mildred Winifred Madrid”?

Well, he should be thankful it’s not “bazoomer.com."

Well, that was a deep cut.

“This is what my people died for…the right to make a movie in this town.”

Stranger

That also describes Roman Polanski, and many of us think it shouldn’t.
