Why isn't anyone coming up with medicine for child molesters?

I think that we should think of pedophiles as people who have a disease. Does anyone else wonder why there isn’t a medication to help pedophiles curb their hunger for molesting young kids.

They have drugs for almost everything else so why not for that? It could save a lot of lives from being ruined, the children and even the molesters themselves.

I would see it being like this; The potential child molester could go to his own family doctor or a confidential doctor to get the drug and that visit could not be used against him in any court cases or perhaps if a person was convicted of molesting a young child he could have the option of taking the drug and being let off the registry after a few years if his condition showed signs of improvement and he agrees to be under the supervision of a psychologist to make sure he is taking the drug.

I think the drug would work by limiting the sex hormones that go to your brain and other chemicals that may be present in people with “uncontrollable tendencies for Young Children”. As far as I know nobody has studied the difference bewteen a pedophiles brain and your avergage person but it deserves to be studied. Maybe I will be the one that makes that drug.

We can no more medicate this personality dysfunction than we can any other. Besides which, sexuality is enormously complicated, and far more than just hormones or brain chemistry. You can’t reprogram anyone’s sexuality. See file labeled “turning gays straight”. It doesn’t work. Besides, one can very well sexually abuse another human without the use of their hands or genitals. Sexual abuse tends to also be about power rather than sexuality.

Add all these things together, and you’ll see why it just won’t work.

And there has been a ton of research about abuser brains vs. nonabuser. The bottom line is that ain’t nothing on Og’s green earth that’s gonna change them, cure 'em, or fix 'em.

There are drugs for that, in fact california and the UK are looking into nutritional therapy to lower the risk of criminal activity in prisons.

There are drugs for sex offenders. They use depo-provera, which is a birth control drug. They use it because it has progesterone, which is what is needed to reduce sex drive.

Sadly, however, sex drive is not always behind the urge to abuse. It tends to also be related to power, a sense of control, and sheer fucked-uped-ness. Thus, I can make someone totally unhorny at all, and they can still have all the motivation and drive to abuse.

Sexual abuse isn’t often just about the sex. It’s about the power.

Potentially, yes, it can be pictures and talk…

It can also involve things like rope, wire, duct tape, knives, drugs, handles off garden implents, and other long vaguely cylindrical objects inserted into a child’s orficies.

Which is about as explicit as I think anyone here wants to get.

Or raping with a broomstick handle. Or making the person fondle themselves or someone else. Or forcing them to make porn of some nature. Or rape by oral sex. Or lots of things.

I worked on a rape crisis line in LA county for awhile. You don’t even want to know things that can be done given a sick enough mind and a desire to inflict pain. I’ve seen objects removed from a 12 year old girl by forceps.
