He’s telling EVERYBODY at work that he got fired. He could have (should have?) walked out immediately, but he negotiated to work until the end of the month.
I don’t like transition. After he’s gone we’ll start changing. But now we’re in limbo for the next weeks.
Both my period and my hot flashes think that summer is the correct time to come. At least I know it should only be one or two summers more, based on family history…
Fucking FedEx. I get fresh meals delivered once a week. They’re shipped in an insulated carton with ice, but the packing assumes it’ll be delivered overnight which is, after all, FedEx’s stock in trade.
They picked it up in NJ on Friday, at the normal place (about 2 hours to the East of me), so I was sure it was going to be here yesterday. Yesterday tracking indicated that they had transferred it to HARRISBURG, which is about 2 hours to the WEST of me. In other words, they’d transferred it right past me.
Today it’s in TENNESSEE. There’s no way, in this heat, that the food has not already spoiled. This is the second time in 4 weeks they screwed up, but at least the first time the food was delivered early Sunday. This is … I am so ANGRY at them I don’t even have words.
As if they weren’t bad enough, last night my credit card issuer contacted me about “unusual activity”. Sure enough, my card’s been compromised. Luckily I have another one, but seriously?
I would love to know WTF is up with FedEx, Tennessee, and perishable deliveries. My mom decided to ship me some lobster one year (cooked, since I don’t have the equipment to handle live ones), and proceeded to have a meltdown as FedEx promptly shipped it to their Memphis hub and let it sit there a few days. Fortunately, she knew the people at the company that cooked and shipped the lobster, and she was able to find out that our order wasn’t the only one that got to hang out in Memphis…needless to say, that company was livid.
My rant was to be directed at an online parts company that couldn’t find my online order but my cc was charged, twice. I alerted BOA to dispute the charges a few days later a sales rep called me to confirm my order and cancel the dupe. He said my order would ship Fed Ex. I decided to keep the cc dispute open with BOA until my order arrived. Shipped ground from Hicksville NY fri. It arrived today!
I was in need of milk so went to the truck stop down the highway. The man in front of me appeared to be living rough and was counting his pennies to buy a pack of cheap cigs. I used to be a smoker and I remember hard times so I told the guy I would buy his smokes for him.
As soon as I said that, he changed his mind and asked the cashier for a carton of expensive cigs and to look at me expectantly. I put the milk down on the counter and walked away. I’m sorry for doing that to the clerk, but he could see me going out the door and didn’t have any reason to expect me to go back.
Da fuk dude, do you seriously expect a random stranger to buy you a 75 dollar carton of cigs just because you smell good? Tip: you don’t. Jerks like you keep making me double think doing something nice for anyone.
A couple of months ago, we thought we should get rid of the never slept on full sized bed in the armory so hubs could expand his brewery. I offered it up free on Nextdoor with the stipulation (I just spelled that by memory, I need to call Mom, she will be soo happy!) that the person getting the bed would need to deal with bringing it home themselves and to bring help because we would not be able to help move or load.
The first response I got was something like “I really need a bed, when can you deliver it?” another one expected our help loading it. One guy told me that he had a boy and a girl who were old enough to need their own beds and seemed to expect me to just materialize a second new bed so they wouldn’t fight over who got which bed.
I was going to pay the trash guys to pick it up, but a friend’s daughter bought a new home and wanted it. The friend and husband brought their pick-up over and paid for the bed with pizza.
It just flabbergasts me that people are so demanding of strangers. Grrrrr. Imma gonna paly with our kitten.
My daughter-in-law had all the side-effects on a sort of rolling basis (she’d get over one set of symptons and another set would come on). My son nearly took her to the ER twice - 36 hours after the shot she was fine (if a little tired from being very ill for a day).
Not that it is a ever a good idea to discourage a guy from going to the doctor . . .
I’ve had some minor leaking from my studio ceiling whenever there’s a heavy rain. But always the procrastinator, I kept putting off doing anything about it. Well, we just had a few days with heavy thunderstorms, and now there’s a 1 sq. foot hole in the ceiling. I can look up and see the underside of the attic floor.

Yeah, it doesn’t quite scan.
The whole family (5 kids, 7 in-laws/SOs, 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grands) was to meet in Nashville for my mom’s 91st birthday over the 4th of July weekend. One in-law couldn’t get off work, one grandson couldn’t travel for medical reasons.
Then there is my youngest son. He could only be there Saturday-Monday (most stayed until Wednesday). American sold him a ticket to arrive late Saturday night. Being a sucky airline, they discovered that they didn’t have a crew (or maybe a plane, it is unclear) available, so they changed his flight to arrive 4 pm Sunday. This bites, but he’ll be able to spend a little time with his grandmother (and mother (he is in CA, we are in MO so don’t see him much)).
They then moved the flight out again, not sure to when, but the boy decided that at this point it made no sense to come out, since he would have little or no time to spend with us prior to getting on the plane to fly back Monday. And, since he would be flying back on American, no reason to expect that the return flight would actually leave anywhere close to the scheduled time (or day, for that matter).

We’ve been cleaning out our house and having a hell of a time donating stuff. First place closed until further notice. Second place closed on weekends. My husband and I have switched cars twice so he could drop off donations, today it was a 30 minute wait at a minimum at the one open place he could find, and he had a client so he was unable to drop the stuff off. Trying again, Thursday. We’re just trying to get our extra stuff out of the house including Wee Weasel’s old baby things… I hate the feeling of stuff weighing me down. I guess they are understaffed right now, or people are donating extra because of shutdowns during COVID?
I think its both. They lost their volunteers AND bored people stuck at home often start cleaning and de-cluttering because they now have the time to do a really thorough job.
We have had rain almost all week. Wonderful, beautiful fabulous rain. The tomatoes and cukes are splitting from being over watered.
Is this a rant or I’m just fucking lucky to be alive? Cruising down the middle lane of the highway at 70mph using my husband’s old - ass car and my tire blew out! It’s absolutely fucking shredded. Figures the one day I take his car this happens!
I’m sitting beside the highway as we speak. I’m too close to the highway to feel comfortable changing to the spare tire on my own.
At least I didn’t even have to make a phone call. Mobile roadside assistance is the bomb. They even know where my car is and I’m getting text updates every 15 minutes. Worth the $89 if you ask me.
Who made the call? Does his car have Onstar? I’m impressed if it knew you had a blow out, although if it can read tire pressure, going from ~32 to 0 in no time at all would be a clue.
