Why no seat belts on Star Trek?

…ahem…in the '70’s, the same thought was given as to why wearing seat belts, in cars, was not safe…just a reflection…

I don’t know why the Enterprise was so beloved, it was a piece of crap if you ask me. Every version of it was always on the verge of falling apart.

The Captain Picard crew got on my nerves too, especially that Riker guy, and Data, and Jordi, and Wesley…

I can’t believe I used to watch that crap, it sucked so bad.

Anyway, to answer the question, it didn’t have seat belts because it sucked.

What the Klingon has said is unimportant and we do not hear his words.

Tay! TAY!

Yeah, but real seagoing ships probably don’t really crash around when being hit by shellfire or missiles like the Star Trek ships do. I’m sure there might be some vibrations and shudders and a lot of noise, but I sort of doubt that the ship itself moves.

But showing Picard/Kirk/Janeway/Sisko/Worf standing on the bridge in the middle of a space battle while the ship is getting beat down, and there’s no motion, very little in the way of explosions, and just the bridge talker relaying battle damage isn’t nearly dramatic enough for most writers and viewers, so they go with the dramatic effect, even if it doesn’t make sense.

(I actually think my rather bloodless way might be really suspenseful if written and filmed appropriately)

In all those battles when they were losing power, and life support, they never once lost their fake gravity generator and started floating around.

I hate to be such a Star Trek hater, but really, that was a crappy franchise in so many ways.

I watched the hell out of it though, and even had a fling with a girl who had a Star Fleet uniform. So, I’m a somewhat of a fan of it.
