Why No Wheat Whiskey?

We have corn whiskey and rye whiskey. Why don’t we have wheat whiskey? (And I do know that occasionally some wheat is added to the malt when making Scotch whiskey.)

Here’s some.

Maker’s Mark is made with winter wheat as well as corn and barley.

I’ve tasted Bernheim. I wasn’t impressed. About the most wheat I want in my whiskey is the aforementioned Maker’s Mark.

Another Kentuckian beat me to it!

When you tour Maker’s Mark (or hear Bill Samuels speak), he’ll tell you his ancestor who came up with the recipe baked bread with different combinations to hit upon the one he felt taste best. Then he experiemented with distilling it.

Interesting stuff.
